Needle felted nest: knitted and crocheted pieces, wool, silk fabric, hair
GENERATIONAL FINDINGS is a series of needle felted baskets inspired by the form of birds' nests. Each piece includes bits of knitted items made by my grandmother, my mother, and myself as well as hair from several generations of family members. Just as birds use bits and pieces of found materials to create their nests, I have merged and compressed layers of family memory, love, and protection in each nest-like basket.
